Poetry
Thunderstorms and lightning
Don't scare me.
Losing my life,
Doesn't scare me.
Driving late
Doesn't scare me.
Being alone doesn't scare me
But living alone does.
Fear alone does.
Living in a world where so much is based on what you own
And not on what owns you, terrifies me.
Life without God scares and bewilders me.
Living for naught, frightens me.
That I may someday type God with a capital G and Word will say it is a typo
Scares me.
The church turning away the unlovable scares me.
The world welcoming them scares me.
But the largest monster that terrifies me the most
Is me.
Me as in who I am when no one is looking
Me as in what I would do if no one would ever find out
The stark realization of the ridiculous spoiled child we all seem to have.
The fact that I am not as good of a friend as I would like to be
Hurts me.
When I see people abuse the name of God and say nothing
And my light flickers
Taints me.
All these nights waiting for mercy to come in the morning
Change me
And the idea that Christ will never give up, never leave and never let go
Is what makes me push ahead.
I am not really scared, or hurt, or terrified,
I am just longing for my Father
For Him to write
the next chapter.

a little work.
When writing poetry, always try to keep your
lines short and concise.
Poetry for the most part
is all about imagery. Painting a picture without giving it away.
You don't want to explain
everything. Readers need
to guess what you are talking about. Write how
you would talk if sitting
across the table from people. You want to try
and get people's attention as early as
possible or they won't
read your poems. Or
writings.
