How to Win From a Superior Height

Winning is always about a game or a battle! When we are at the top of the game or the opponent is at our mercy, we are considered to be winning. When the enemy or opponent submits to us, it would be said we won the battle. Winning is an enjoyable and thrilling moment which everyone desires to savor. The game of life or the battles of life are first won from a higher realm before the physical manifestation. And so where we connect from in the game or battle of life is very pertinent.
In every battle or game there is one factor that supersedes all others - all others depend solely on it. It is the eye factor; what it is seeing and where it is looking. This is key! This is what makes us either win or lose. If the eye doesn't see and it's not looking, forget about winning. This was how Samson was defeated in the Bible - his eyes were plucked off! Looking or seeing is an ability inherent in us. Whether our eyes are impaired or not, one still can look to see - looking and seeing are either spiritual or physical, inward or outward. And one question we will need to answer as we continue to find the track in this journey called "life" is what are we looking at and what do we see?
- Some will lift up their eyes and look up to God and draw strength and favor.
- Some will look ahead at things and on people for help and don't go beyond their level.
- While some would look back to get hurt with the past and drawback to fail.
What are you really looking at and what are you looking up to?
"And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God" (Luke 9:62). Any man who is not looking right cannot win!
Apostle Paul says in the Bible: "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize......." (Philippians 3:13-14).
The only look which gives you victory in the challenge of life is not to look backward as you desire to move forward. Fix your look onward and upward to God. Looking unto canal things or depending on human strength will only give horizontal connection with limited help from man who will never lift you beyond how far their hands could go. And most times with frustration and disappointment. You are operating at almost the same level when you look at things and unto men for victory.
This is what the Psalmist says:
"Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies" (Psalm 60:11)
"Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God: Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth forever" (Psalm 146:3-6).
The look which is fixed towards God gives a vertical access and connection, which rains down favor, grace, strength, hope, joy and peace from God. As you look unto God, He looks from heaven down to men, who will in turn look at you with favor and open great doors unto you. And this is winning! "They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed" (Psalm 34:5).
"The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season. Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing" (Psalm 145:15-16).
You are operating from a higher level when you look unto God - you have a vertical flow. But when you look unto men - you have a horizontal flow with great uncertainties and inherent pain. You are still just operating at the same level.
Moses went unto the mountain to look unto God's face (Exodus 34:28-30). He came down with a face glowing with light and people saw it and respected him. When you look unto God's face, your face will be lightened and radiate his glory. You attract honor, favor and respect because people will see God's glory on you and get attracted. Again:
"They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed" (Psalm 34:5).
Looking unto God is operating from a superior height and that is winning.
