How To Change Undesirable Character

Character is all of a persons behavioral and emotional traits - it is a mold someone has been either positively or negatively shaped into. So character is a mold and an impression of you! That is why some of your actions are predictable. Negative character, is a negative impression on you which can be removed just by a process of resisting and breaking down the mold. Just as a potter breaks down a clay pot and begins a process of re-molding. You can break down yourself within your own view - sincerely analyse your negative consistent patterns of behavior and consider its effects on your life and image.
Count the losses and the unpleasant effects it has cost you. Do this in a quiet place within some couple of minutes. When you are provoked enough, because you can see clearly the impact of this undesirable character on your life, through the simple self examination or character analysis you've just conducted on yourself; then take a far reaching decision.
Take a bold, unflinching step with determination to allow and begin a re-mold of your character, of course the negative character was molded in, so it can be broken and re-molded. Just go ahead and ask God to help you because you are determined and set for change.
It may take some time and process but if you continue the process of resisting the old negative character and re-molding in the new one persistently, you will develop another imprint on your nature as you engage the word of God and His character for your benefit.
You can't do it alone! You only need to bring your determination and call on God, who is ever willing to help re-mold your life completely. You can become brand new.
Character change is usually a tough challenge. it is an undo it yourself thing. No one will do it for you. But Strenght and ability will come when you always connect with God in prayer.
Jabez cried to God with desire and determination for a change in nature from a pronouncement of sorrow upon him by his mother at his birth and God helped him achieve it (1Chronicles 3:9-10).
Jacob had to wrestle with God all through the night for a change that was needed in his character and God intervened. He was named Jacob which meant "supplanter" and he was always a schemer and a con man, living upto his name, until God intervened to change his name (Genesis 27:36).
Yours is very possible. The greatest character mold you can ever adopt is when you copy the life of Jesus Christ and imbibe it in daily, through His words in the Bible. Then you can measure to the stature of His fulness (Ephesians 4:13). The truth is that when you willingly give your heart and total being over to Jesus, you are sure of a brand new life and character!
