Devotionals
This morning I woke up to the news of bad weather rolling in this afternoon.
These reports always set a certain routine into action.
Going around the yard to make sure everything is put away that can be and securing the things that must stay out.
Plus putting the dishpan in place to catch any water that may leak in through the roof.
After everything is made ready, our family continues on with the routine of a normal day.
But sometimes the weather gets even worse and we have to go into another mode.
One where the bigger girls discretely gather up favorite stuffed critters, purses, shoes and sweaters. All the while the little ones continue school work with me.
When the weather gets bad enough that the birds inside are acting up, the cats are circling and the dog is restless, the little girls also seem to notice that something is up, and they don't like it.
As the little ones start to fret and look out the windows, I remind them that we do not need to be afraid because someone is watching over us.
One little girl will say we should pray.
And we all pray together.
We put away the school stuff.
And then all the girls get ready for me to read a story to them, everyone snuggling with someone little in their lap.
Some chapters later, the storm has passed and carefree laughter is heard once more throughout the house.
It all makes me wonder.
What is my routine when the storms of life hit?
Do I put on my Armor of God, ready for what may come?
Do I take it to my Lord, and snuggle down in His arms until the storm passes?
Do I look on with worry and distress or do I wait patiently with the Lord ?
When the storm passes do I thank Him for seeing me through?
Whatever happens, I know that it becomes forever part of my testimony of how great my Lord is.
Luke 18:17 Truly I say to you, whoever does not accept and receive and welcome the kingdom of God like a little child [does] shall not in any way enter it [at all]. [Amplified version]
