Devotionals
Church is like an all you can eat buffet to a poor man eating rice. The food is so rich, it gladdens the soul like a good meal satisfies the body. Especially when you realize your server’s name is Jesus. Like the disciples you want to protest and say, "No Lord, let me serve ", and He says, "Just sit here, while I wash your feet. The road has been hot and dusty. Let me refresh you here."
Gathered with other disciples, we break bread together, sing hymns, and pray for one another. It's the place we realize we're not alone, through tears we realize others struggle just like we do. We confess our failures, thank Him for His forgiveness, humbly realize all He's freely given us, and receive His strength to carry on. This is where we see Him serving us and washing our feet in real life when we allow other people to be involved in our own areas of brokenness. For me this is the true meaning of breaking bread together.
Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Dear Lord, I bring you my brokenness. Please wash me as I admit my frailties and need for help.
