One thing you must recognize is that old issue of FREE WILL. It is the loophole in the contract of life. God says ‘this is the life I have planned for you’ - Free Will says, ‘you can reject it.’ Those you are praying for, everyone in the battle, has the right to exercise free will. He or she has the right to except or reject God’s love and leading. They have the same choices to make that you do. But if you are to allow God to do His work in their lives then you must be willing to let Him do whatever it takes to give them the opportunity to make that choice.
It is hard to watch loved ones reject the plan that God has for his children. God desires only good, but somewhere on the road between faith and failure we all have to exercise the gift of Free Will and make a decision. Will I walk toward Faith or Failure? The scary part is that the road gets real narrow as it gets closer to faith, but the other way is so broad and the city of failure is so glitzy and attractive; paved with apparent freedom and so many of your friends are going down that road. But looking toward the city of faith the road is very straight and narrow and there are very few people on it and it is so quiet and seemingly ...boring. It is not an easy thing to describe the Christian life to a non-believer.
When praying for my children I have learned to trust God to bring them through the hard things to become the men and women he desires them to be. The plan He has laid out from the foundation of the world is set and He is the only one that knows what it will take to bring the elect to a faith in Him. The hardest thing for me in the early days was to NOT preach to them. My strength and faith came from the knowledge that it is His Word that does not return void, not mine. So after realizing this I began situation studies in the Word of God so I could gain an understanding of God’s ways and renew my faith. My children have gone through many dangerous and trying times; mostly self inflicted as were mine before I knew Christ. Now in these situations I SPEAK God’s Word to the problem as I am directed in Mark 11: 20-26. In these verses there are four important directions that are given by Jesus:
1. Vs22 Have faith in God.
2. Vs23 Say, Speak to the problem.
3. Vs23, 24 Do not doubt. Believe that you have received what you asked for.
4. Vs25 Forgive
When you are the prayer warrior for someone else your only part in the battle is to lift them up with the promises that you read in God’s Word. The Word is your sword and if you use it don’t expect to get a pat on the back from them because they will probably be in too much pain to be happy that you just cut them. But with all, love them through. As much as you would like to tell them that they are protected and blessed and that everything they do will be honored by God, it just isn’t possible. The promises in the Word are for those that choose to believe in Christ and his death and resurrection and for them that believe in the sacrifice of God’s only begotten Son for payment for our sins. Until they come to the point where they are ready to turn around and go the way toward Faith, the promises will not hold for them. The enemy blinds them to the truth and they are manipulated like puppets to further his attacks on those that love and obey the Lord. Expect the harshness that goes hand in hand with the enemy’s tactics and RECOGNIZE that it is not really coming from the one you love, but through them from the enemy. Do not fall for the enemy’s trap of fighting a battle in your mind that doesn’t exist. Keep your Focus on the Lord and His Word. Pray without ceasing. Your battle is not with the one you think is talking about you, or the group that you think is working against you. Don’t worry about what they are doing...Focus on what the Lord is doing and pray that He do it through whatever means He must to work for the better outcome.
Remember Ephesians 6:12 ‘For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.’
If you stand on God’s promises you will not get burned.
