"One who is slack in his work is brother to one who destroys." (Proverbs 18:9)
Have you ever seen someone "slack off"? A "slacker" is someone who doesn't do what is expected of them, who doesn’t carry out his or her responsibility. The Scripture speaks often of the concept of "stewardship". Usually stewardship is illustrated by Jesus in business relationships. Someone who is placed in charge of the farm or vineyard of another, or someone who trades for another (remember the parable of the talents). For most of us today our stewardship is lived out as employees of some company. If you slack off in your job you are like someone who is destroying the business, as opposed to building it up. If you are a good steward you will work to the good of your employer. "You don't know my boss," you say. "He doesn't deserve…" Wait! This is not about your boss; it is about your faithfulness. The Apostle Paul wrote that we should work as though Jesus is our boss. If you do, it will change your life, and you will be blessed.
