"When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers." (Proverbs 21:15)
There is a desire in the hearts of most people for justice, a yearning for the righting of wrongs. Justice is one of the great themes of books and movies and we cheer when the bad guy gets his just dues. Justice is about making wrongs right. The desire for justice is part of godliness because the Lord placed that desire in the hearts of His people. When the movie "The Godfather" came out years ago I was working in New York, and decided to go to a weekday matinee to see it. The audience was full of men in dark topcoats, who seemed to laugh when the police were shot. Their values were upside down. It turned out that there was a real gang war going on among the mob in New York at that time, and I had shared the movie with the real mob. God has promised that justice will prevail, eventually. Until that promise is fully realized evil people continue to hate justice and righteous people will celebrate it.
