The 2010 Page Turner Contest is Up and Running

Post by Deb Porter »

Hi everyone.

If you are a Platinum 500 member, it's time to get that first chapter ready for this year's Page Turner contest.

Here's where you can find out all the details, and submit your application:

http://www.faithwriters.com/myaccount/F ... turner.php

(Non-Platinum members who would like to know more, you can find out here: http://www.faithwriters.com/page-turner.php )

This is the biggest contest we hold each year, so if you have a non-fiction manuscript in the works, or an idea in mind, don't miss out.

One important thing to keep in mind when preparing your entry: Make sure you save your file as either a 97-2003 Word document (.doc extension, not .docx) or as a rich text format file (.rtf extension).

Also, after you submit, I will contact you to let you know that your entry has been safely received. In the early days of the contest, I won't be checking the entries every day. So give me a week or two, and if I haven't contacted you, PLEASE contact me and ask me to check.

Love, Deb

Excited about this!! Mine will be awhile though....still just an idea in my head--and a full journal....
Have been writing since I was old enough to hold a crayon-but only recently felt it was time to "do something" with it. Thank the Lord for Dt. 31:8 "The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you."

Oooh - question. I don't plan on doing this, but others might be interested. Can you resubmit an entry (changed or not) that you submitted to Page Turner before?

Jo, absolutely. BUT I wouldn't re-submit it unless it has been re-worked.

2. A fabulous cash prize, that could be used toward the cost of self-publishing their finished book;

Does this mean that the cash prize ONLY goes toward self-publishing?

Hi Michael.

No, not at all. That's why it says "could." The winner can use it however they want. The possibility of using it to self-publish is just mentioned as a way to keep the overall concept all about getting that book in print. But the prize is free to be used however the winner chooses.

Hi Deb,

Thanks, just wanted to make sure that I wasn't getting into a position that committed me to self-publish - I'm still hoping for a traditional publishing contract...

Question

Post by briandhannahsmom »

I plan on entering (out of God obedience only!) and the praise is, there is interest in the subject matter my manuscript will contain. I've been approached by Mary Byers and Elisa Morgan to have an article publish in their digital magazine, FullFill.

This article was generated out of messages I sent as letters to members of my Facebook group. The subject matter is part of my manuscript but the article for FullFill (if I agree) would not be what I plan on submitting to PageTurner.

Is this okay? I'm excited for the huge door of favor that flew wide open through Mary but I don't want to disqualify my entry because I really feel God's call for me to participate.

I'm sure I'm clear as mud, but I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

Thanks in advance, Deb!
Blessings,
Julie

Julie, that's fine. No problem at all. As long as you haven't published the book you have planned, you're fine.

Julie!!! As a recipient of said letters, I say YAY! I've benefited tremendously from your messages (as you assuredly know.)

Post by punkin »

I had actually almost forgotten about the contest. However, one day I began from nowhere writing about my life into book form. It is my memoir of my life. I am excieted. I have worke on this forever It seemed like the pieces would never come together. Finally, Chapter one arose! I am exceted and tryin to put the final pieces together now. I will be having my writng group review it for me carefully before turning it in. I'm excited as I thought it was almost hopeless! Can not wait to enter it!
