Need some prayer

Post by RedBaron » Fri Jan 11, 2019 8:15 pm

As many of you know, our family has the BRCA mutation and my sister has gone through 5 battles with breast or ovarian cancer (still going through the most recent). Because of this, I get checked twice a year, once a mammogram and once an MRI (when we can afford it, now that we know to pre-check the insurance status).

I had an MRI earlier this week. My Dr found a private pay one through University Hospital that's $250, instead of $4000 out of pocket for the one at Cleveland Clinic that I've done before (sometimes hit our deductible and it was less, sometimes they wouldn't cover it at all - it's stupid). She called and left a voice mail today that they saw "something" on each breast that wasn't there the last time I had an MRI. Another tech/doctor is going to call to schedule an ultrasound to see if there is anything to worry about or not. If they is something still looking off, she's going to have me schedule an MRI-guided biopsy. Last time I had "something" show up, and did the ultrasound, there was nothing there.

I'm just trying to breath and not let myself panic.

Hugs Shari.
Dear Jesus, We ask that you wrap your comforting arms around Shari. Give her a sense of peace that all things are in your control. Give her the strength and faith she needs to get through this scary time. Thank you for allowing her to get the MRI. Thank you for the doctors, nurses, and technicians that make early detection possible. In your name we pray. Amen.

Thanks. I have the ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow as the next step. I'm doing mostly ok, and trying to not worry yet. But it's hard :(. It kind of comes in waves.

I get it. Praying.
What time is the ultrasound (and what time zone are you in these days)?

Dear Jesus, by this time Shari has probably had the ultrasound, but may not yet know anything so we offer her up in prayer knowing time is not a hindrance to you. I also know you prompt us to pray when prayer is needed so I ask that you surround Shari with your love, with confidence that with you she can do all things. Give her a sense of peace that all is in your hands. Again we praise you for the way you love us and for the way you understand our very human emotions because of your human experience, you understand us in so many cool ways. Your spirit assures us we are never alone, even when we feel so very alone, and we are so grateful for your presence, for family and friends, for technology that makes things possible that weren't possible years ago. You made us wonderfully and we are so grateful. Again, we ask that Shari can receive answers as soon as possible and that she'll have the strength and patience to hear whatever news it may be. Bless her family, friends, and doctors with empathy, understanding, and kindness. Amen.

The breast ultrasound was inconclusive, so I'll have to do the MRI biopsy. I have to schedule on two different days because of the contrast.
One is on Jan 29th and the other on 31st, both at 10 am.

I kind of feel like the ultrasound was unnecessary, since it didn't see anything and I still have to have the biopsy, and if it had seen something, I'd still need the biopsy. Don't know why they didn't just go straight to the biopsy. But then, I'm not the doctor.

Ugh - sorry about the waiting - praying that you will have answers after the next round of tests.
