Wk 7 Topic - WAIT

Post by Deb Porter »

Welcome back, Challengeers. Here we go with the final two topics for this quarter, starting with this one. Hang on a second …

… the Week 7 topic is:

WAIT
http://www.faithwriters.com/writing-challenge-intro.php

Hands up everyone who loves to wait for things? (Not seeing too many hands there.)

We wait for spring when it’s winter, and for autumn after the heat of summer. We wait in line to get stamps, tickets, food, concerts, and sometimes even to get into church (been there, done that in the past).

Ever been to Disney World or Disneyland? You wait for the big day to arrive for your vacation or visit, and then spend a fair amount of time waiting in line once you’re there. Love the place, but it is definitely a lesson in patience.

Apart from those patience-inducing meanings, wait does have some other definitions:

WAIT
http://www.dictionary.com/browse/wait

Someone may wait on us, for example, in a restaurant. Or what if a villain lies in wait to jump out at us? Many a parent will wait up for a late teenager.

Wait for your imagination and creativity to spark the perfect idea for your entry, and then get busy writing.

Have fun with the topic. As always, you can write in any genre or style you like, AS LONG AS SOME MEANING OF THE TOPIC IS THE MAIN FOCUS OF YOUR ENTRY ... and as long as the entry conforms to the rules.

DON’T FORGET the new Challenge rule. Every entry must communicate some form of Christian message or spiritual truth. For fiction writers, if your message is subtle or allegorical, please include a scripture at the end of the entry in order to highlight the intended message for the reader.

As always, don't forget to check your word count before submitting (entries must be between 150 and 750 words). A very reliable and free online word count check tool is this one:

PLEASE, always hit the preview button to check your entry before hitting the final submit button. This is the only way to make sure your entry is uploaded correctly. This is very important, particularly if you are using HTML code for the first time. Once you have previewed your entry, close the preview page and hit the submit button.

Finally, once submitted, do a check to make sure your entry is safely in the list:

I can’t wait to see what you write for this topic. Don’t keep me waiting.

Love, Deb
