Sarah Elizabeth,
Thank you for commenting on my entry Whatever. I hadn't even bothered to look at the top 40 because I knew this one wouldn't make it. The ones I thought would, never did.

I'm very surprised!

It's Gregory's turn in the "bridesmaid" (or man) position. Congratulations to everyone--many wonderful stories.

Not another eleventh place!!! One more week to try for that elusive top ten placing. But, hey, I've had a lot of fun this quarter.

I notice that we have four men in the top fifteen. Good to see the guys making a come-back.

Gregory

PS I don't think I've ever been called a bridesmaid before

Could not agree more, Gregory. I'm always delighted to see the men make it to the top. Great to see Sir William up there, and Aussie Vince is a really quiet achiever. Well done, guys!

Shocking win!

Post by RainyDayWriter »

I just wanted to say thank you for the 1st place beginner award. I log in everyday and read all the comments and read others and I was convinced that I just didn't "get" what the judges were looking for. I decided to take wow week off so I didn't set myself up for disappointment. I had to re-evaluate how to be patient and accept that it might take a long time and most wouldn't be wins. The joy should be in the creative outlet. Out of curiosity of who did end up winning I logged on late last night and couldn't believe my eyes! Not only did I place but I got 1st?! :o I honestly don't ever remember being that shocked.

I made my husband come look to make sure I wasn't imagining it. My favorite part was how genuinely proud of me he was that I stuck my neck out and tried something new. That was a great moment for both of us huddled around the laptop. Thanks for that neat memory and the vote of confidence to keep honing my skills! :D

Well Rainy it seems you're not a wash out after all...

I know I know puns this late in the morning are not a good thing.

You did good and it shows, just don't give up. The Challenge is for building that skill. A man could build a house without training, but it might not look so good when finished. With any skill you need to work on it. getting to where you can write to a topic request and deadline is a hard thing, at least to some people, and we need to keep at it til we get it right.

You made a good start. Sometimes you win, others you don't, but never get discouraged.
