Hi, I've been a member for awhile but haven't really taken advantage of all the benefits of Faithwriters.

I have been writing my life story for awhile but need a little help. Has anyone taken any memoir writing classes? Or can anyone make suggestions as to where I can take a class?

Roseanne, I would only recommend making it come alive for the reader. Don't just tell the reader about your life, but let them experience it through your words.

Memoirs do not have an enormous amount of potential from a publishing point of view (unless you have a truly incredible story or are really well known). So it's up to you to make your story the sort of thing readers will really care about and want to read.

Blessings as you continue to write!

And if you are Platinum member, and you have a first chapter done, why not enter the Page Turner Contest? This year it is for non-fiction writing, and the winner will be published by Breath of Fresh Air Press:

Hi Rosann,
I've been reading "You Can't Make This Stuff Up" by Lee Gutkind. It's a wonderful resource for writing creative non-fiction and he focuses a lot on memoir. Here's a link to his website, where you can subscribe to a magazine and classes, including memoir writing. Gutkind is an English professor and his writing is easy to follow.
