Wk 3 Topic - TRIP

Post by Deb Porter » Thu Oct 18, 2018 3:31 pm

Hi there, Challengeers. After last week’s sobering topic, I thought we all needed a little break away, so the Week 3 topic is:

If you are feeling a little tired, you probably thought of a vacation when you saw that word. Others may have thought of that little bump in the footpath and how it made you stumble. Or perhaps it was that slip of the tongue that caused you to trip up.

It’s interesting to note that to “trip lightly” is actually not a clumsy thing at all. Instead, it is to be nimble on your feet. Go figure, but that is probably where the phrase “trip the light fantastic” comes from (in reference to dancing).

And we couldn’t finish up a discussion about tripping without the good old guilt trip, which is part of the “lay a trip on” use (which is to inflict one’s preoccupations or obsessions on another person.

As always, have fun with the topic. You can write in any genre or style you like, AS LONG AS SOME MEANING OF THE TOPIC IS THE MAIN FOCUS OF YOUR ENTRY ... and as long as the entry conforms to the rules.

DON’T FORGET the new Challenge rule. Every entry must communicate some form of Christian message or spiritual truth. For fiction writers, if your message is subtle or allegorical, please include a scripture at the end of the entry in order to highlight the intended message for the reader.

As always, don't forget to check your word count before submitting (entries must be between 150 and 750 words). A very reliable and free online word count check tool is this one:

PLEASE, always hit the preview button to check your entry before hitting the final submit button. This is the only way to make sure your entry is uploaded correctly. This is very important, particularly if you are using HTML code for the first time. Once you have previewed your entry, close the preview page and hit the submit button.

Finally, once submitted, do a check to make sure your entry is safely in the list:

So come on, Challengeers. It’s time to take us on a trip. Don’t stumble on the way. Hope to see you in the list.

Love, Deb
