Wk 3 Topic - AMAZING

Postby Deb Porter » Thu Apr 19, 2018 7:08 pm

Hi there, Challengeers. This week’s topic is awe inspiring (and the last topic before our first one week break for this quarter). The Week 3 topic is:

AMAZING
http://www.faithwriters.com/writing-challenge-intro.php

Had any amazing moments lately? Seen something that’s left you shaking your head in wonder? You don’t really need a definition for it, but be amazed by Dictionary.com’s explanation:

AMAZING
http://www.dictionary.com/browse/amazing

Okay, so that probably wasn’t the most amazing thing you’ve ever read, but what leaves you with sudden wonder and astonishment? Maybe it’s something God has done in your life. The act of salvation, alone, is amazing grace.

We usually think of wonderful things when we think of the word “amazing,” but sometimes we may find the not so wonderful behaviour of others also amazing. For example, “I think it’s amazing that Joe next door continues to think it’s okay to mow his lawn at 4 am.” In that case, there is a bit of hyperbole in using the word; however, it does fit the “astonished greatly” aspect of the definition.

Synonyms are: astound, dumfound, stun, flabbergast.

As always, have fun with the topic. As always, you can write in any genre or style you like, AS LONG AS SOME MEANING OF THE TOPIC IS THE MAIN FOCUS OF YOUR ENTRY ... and as long as the entry conforms to the rules.

DON’T FORGET the new Challenge rule. Every entry must communicate some form of Christian message or spiritual truth. For fiction writers, if your message is subtle or allegorical, please include a scripture at the end of the entry in order to highlight the intended message for the reader.

As always, don't forget to check your word count before submitting (entries must be between 150 and 750 words). A very reliable and free online word count check tool is this one:

PLEASE, always hit the preview button to check your entry before hitting the final submit button. This is the only way to make sure your entry is uploaded correctly. This is very important, particularly if you are using HTML code for the first time. Once you have previewed your entry, close the preview page and hit the submit button.

Finally, once submitted, do a check to make sure your entry is safely in the list:

So come on, Challengeers, amaze us with some incredible writing and creativity this week. Remember, this is our last topic before our first one-week break.

Love, Deb
