Hi Steve--your post came through while I was typing mine. I LIKE what you wrote! 8) Did you "hear" that Deb? It wasn't a mistake after all. I really did it on purpose...so I won't be "inelegant". PLUS, I'm like Hemingway!!! Steve said so. :heehee :rolling :coolsign :roc...

Thanks, Deb--that's good to know! :D And thanks again for your extra help with my troublesome files! :thankssign Rachel- No doubt your idea is a good one for sanity's sake. For some reason I've never been able to NOT reread though.  You have a good point, too in that no matter how well g...

Sigh...(giggle)

I knew I shouldn't re-read my Page Turner chapter after I submitted it. ...But did I listen to me? Noooo!  I found where I'd used the same word three times in one paragraph (and the word wasn't "the", either, LOL.) WHY I couldn't have found that on the thousand reads / rewr...

Woo-Hoo! :superhappy

My Page Turner entry is IN...confirmed by Deb as being tucked safely in her files.

I feel like I won just by successfully getting my entry submitted!

Thanks again, Deb for the help for my uncooperative files!

Well, one advantage to the delay in being able to get my entry submitted is that I keep tweaking it! :D I was happy with what I tried to submit last week, but, since I've had more time to study additional editing materials and apply them, I'm even happier with it now. I haven't made any drastic chan...

HELP, please...

HELP! (Please... :D ) I'm trying to submit my Page Turner entry, and I keep getting the error message "incorrect file type". I read that there was some sort of glitch so it needed to be saved in Word 97-2003 format, so I did that. (.doc extension) It won't take it. So I tried saving it in...

OKAY... I'm not there yet, but I'm getting closer! It took a "superhuman" effort   but I got my synopsis down to 541 words!!! :superhappy And I think I'm getting a lot closer to being done with my "polishing". I'm hoping to get my entry submitted this week....

Great class! Poetry is definitely a "stretch" for me--but something I've wanted to learn more about. And stretching is good! Mine's a little different...not necessarily "sweet" as many turn out to be, but hopefully interesting! --About "someone" I've been watc...

Thanks, Deb, for the clarification--that helps a lot!

With a little style modification, I should be able to get my synopsis down to ~500 words.

Well, if I get back to work on it, that is...

I sure like how many people are entering this, and chatting about it etc... This is fun!

So far that's about as far as I've been able to condense an around 80k word novel, if in a real "synopsis" format, as opposed to more of a back cover copy / teaser format. Which type of format is preferred??? I don't know. That's one of the things I'm hoping Deb will answer when she gets ...

That link didn't work for me. ??? Hmmm...it works for me. Anyway, it's in the "Countdown to Closing Date for Entries" thread. Like I said in that thread...I'll adapt however I need to, but it will be challenging to get an effective synopsis into 500 words without having major plot gaps. C...

Some of us have been discussing this here . Joanne said she thought there was a 500 word limit, but I checked the rules a little while ago and, unless I missed something it just says, "brief" in terms of the synopsis. D'ya think 2 pages be considered "brief"? So far tha...

Thanks, Joanne, but EEEEK!!! I agree with Karlene, LOL! Most of the sites I looked at mentioned 1-3 pages. I hadn't rechecked the rules for the page turner yet (but would have before sending it in.) All of which brings up another question. I've been writing my synopsis as I'd seen in example...

I'm working on mine, too. I debated as to whether or not to give it a go, but finally decided I would. The "polishing" of my first chapter is going fairly well, but I'm having a bit more trouble with the synopsis. Deb, maybe you could post (in all your "spare time" ) a ...
