Getting in on one of my favorite kinds of rhyme here

A Feline Problem

When a cat and a bird chance to meet,
For the bird to stay safe's quite a feat.
The cat, it's ironic,
Is not "catatonic."
He can leap from the old catbird seat.

Emily Elizabeth Dickinson
Wrote scads of rhymes and then some,
Could have been well known as an author but lived solitary life instead,
Then one day her poems were famous--too bad she was dead.

Whew, Jan, this was tough--trying to do math without numbers!

I'm busy, busy, busy in an editing project, but I can't resist dropping in on my favorite teacher's class!

Poetic license sets you free
From keeping within boundaries,
But rules--you gotta' know 'em
To write a metered poem.

So glad you're back, Jan, and Steve, too.

Moon on blue ocean
Smiles at his own reflection
Waving back to him.

Congratulations to all. Happy Dancin' with my special friends, sitting pretty in EC. It would have been difficult to judge this week--there were so many great entries. I enjoyed reading as many as I could for those who threw bricks and thought the stories and poems showed great originality and humor...

Congratulations to all, and especially to Jim for that beautiful poem. I knew you'd place one day, Jim! Now, Jan, why does that NOT surprise me about you?? And great appreciation to the judges (Can you see me happy dancin'?) for noticing my poem that was birthed from my pastor's sermon several weeks...

Congratulations on excellent writing, ECer's. It was nice to see intermediates and even a beginner stepping up. I was surprised and very happy to see my name with the others. Happy Dancin' here.
