Re: Be a Better Writer--GIVING AND RECEIVING CRITIQUE

When we were doing critiques in the college class my daughter and I took together, I made the practice of also including a summary of the story or excerpt that I was critiquing. My thoughts were, this would have value in letting the writer see what I perceived in the story, and if that lined up with...

Re: Top 15 Finalists - Page Turner Contest 2013

I suppose next time the FIction Pageturner comes up, I'm going to have to try writing just the first chapter and synopsis of the story, and then finish it after the contest, just to see how that works for me. I suspect, though, that my characters will nag the daylights out of me, and not let me wait...

Re: Top 15 Finalists - Page Turner Contest 2013

Okay... am I the only one that entered the first chapter from a finished story?

Publisher listing and rating

While this is a secular webpage, and lists all manner of publishers from those specializing in erotica all the way through to Christian publishers, Piers Anthony is on a mission to help writers find good publishing options, while avoiding shady ones. This is a lengthy list of publishers, with observ...

Re: 2011 Page Turner Entry Tally

Maybe I should have sent something in, just to bump the total up to a nice, round 80.

Re: 2011 Page Turner Entry Tally

Hadn't even thought about entering this year, and things have been so crazy, I don't think I will.

Maybe by 2013, I'll have something that I think has some real potential of winning.

Congratulations, Lynda, Shelley, and Lisa.

Now, I'll enjoy a year away from the contest, and sometime next year, start thinking about what to submit for the 2011 Pageturner.

Absolutely no clues at all. The only thing I will say is that the standard of entries, for the most part, was very good. Once again I was blown away by the talent.

Love, Deb
Dang! I knew I should have stolen the entry box after mine was submitted!

Deb, I tried sending you a couple of e-mails this past week. The one to the address from a couple of years ago bounced, and never heard anything from the new address that I found on your web page. Did it get through okay?

Well, look at it this way, Karlene. You only know where you placed if you're one of the winners. Otherwise, you won't know if you're 11th of 11, or 4th of 11. However, if you don't enter, then it's guaranteed you'll be 11th of 10. It isn't losing we should be afraid of. It's never doing at all that ...

Congratulations to all the anniversaries out there. It's always encouraging to not only see marriages that are long-lasting, but also ones where the couple is even more nuts about each other than the day they tied the knot. For all those cynics out there that say marriage doesn't work, all I can say...
