Nominative / Objective Case

This came up in another lesson, so I'm repeating it here. Yes, we all need it, even though it seems elementary and simple. Nominative Case: The category of nouns used as the "grammatical subject" of a sentence. Think of the word "nom," which means "name." So nominative ...

You've got it!

(I'm going to start a new thread with the nominative / objective information, just so you know you're not seeing things... And don't feel bad about anything... we all get fuzzy about stuff.)

It was perfectly fine to put "indirections" in quotes. As long as you remember to put the period in the correct place. "Eli told him you just have to follow the 'indirections . '" I made an error in explaining your error. You used the Subjective Case instead of the OBJECTIVE CASE...

A tiny error in the first sentence, regarding a pronoun that's in the SUBJECTIVE CASE rather than the NOMINATIVE CASE. "Eli told him you just have to follow the 'indrections'." The rule for Quotes within Quotes is the period goes inside both sets of quotation marks. If you need a better ex...

Got you both beat, I'm 61 and not feeling the pain! LOL For some reason, both here and in Jan's class, I'm not getting the message that there has been a new posting, even though I have checked "Notify me when a reply is posted". Is there anyone else who is having this problem? How do you ...

Thank you Ann, Okay, I think I've got it. I went back and fourth with all of the corrections you made, except the coma after Oh. I didn't and wouldn't have put it in, so don't understand the reason behind it....(little pun there) :) AND didn't catch forgot. :) And pretty sure I am not younger than ...

Oh, good, you're only an hour ahead. My phone, under world time, said 4 hours  Well, there are parts of Canada that ARE four hours ahead, but we don't all live in Toronto! My additions are blue . And I enlarged it because I'm.... probably older than you.... “Oh wait , I’m sorry, I forg...

I see you are in California. I am ONE hour ahead of you, on Mountain Time. However, on the weekend, I'll be with you on Pacific Time. You all change to DST, but our little corner of BC never changes their clocks.

AnneRené,

The first two sentences are fine.

The next three need need commas in various places.

How would you (and any other participants) like to go about this? Should I just go ahead and show you or let you try again...?

Thanks for coming and joining in.

Re: Need Help

If God knows my heart, why don’t I listen? He’s been whispering, like a child playing with two cans on a string, I just can’t understand. Please speak up, forgive me, it’s just too hard to hear you. If my sins were washed away, why do I feel so tired? All I heard was ‘forgiven’, was that you God? H...

Commas (Part Five - The End)

Commas - Part Five I think this is the last of commas, except for fine tuning. I have read a few things on FW in the last few days with common comma errors. So, a little review... Names don’t need to be set off with commas unless... ...It is a part of a DIRECT ADDRESS. Susan, please take out the ga...

Okay, I'll give this a shot: Suddenly, without warning, I was doubled over in pain. After four hours in the emergency room, the doctors ordered a catscan which showed evidence of kidney stones. It was soon determined, however, that I would be admitted for further observation. Why had I just written...

Is there anything I can do to help?

Like....

Email an Alert to you each time I post? And nag you incessantly?

I really wouldn't nag you, but I could email or post Alerts.
