Twenty minutes turned into twelve minutes each day when eight of those minutes were taken by a video segment that dealt with daily challenges presented with a cute puppet and some humor. I needed to be able to top that act, by talking about real issues that affect all children and how by accepting and believing in Jesus would help them with any problem they might come to face. I realized that I actually had only a full hour of talk time to make a touching impression in these young minds.
I prayed about this daily and often and our merciful Lord answered. He helped me in a mighty way. I let the children know about me as a child, my sins and how life changed for me when I placed Jesus first in my heart. Children, who didn’t understand sin, learned that everyone is a sinner and we can all pray at any time to Jesus for forgiveness of sins. Children learned about the Bible. Children were taught that there is only One who can save us. Children learned that there is only One that can bring us into heaven.
I prayed for these children and I prayed with these children. The short amount of time spent with them was blessed time and now turns into a golden memory that I can always look back upon as treasure sent from Above. The week went by too quickly. When it was over I was depressed. Was it possible that these children taught me anything? Yes. They certainly did. Looking at them , listening to their voices sing along with mine the hymn of , I Have Hid Your Word In My Heart, seeing how eager they were to learn about Jesus Christ, made me realize just how wonderfully made we all are by our mighty God and how faithful He is in answering prayers. The doors of my church were looked upon with eagerness and excitement all week long as the Word of God and Christian fellowship was joyfully embraced for the first time by many children and parents.
The children openly shared of themselves times they have sinned, times they were scared, times they needed strength and times they needed hope. I was able to tell them that Jesus loves them and that He is there for them always. I was able to teach them that Jesus came here to save us. God blessed me with the words to say that would help these children in the best way possible. I give thanks to the Lord for using me and guiding my ways during the past week. I pray that He continues to use me for the rest of my life to help others learn of Jesus. I am eternally thankful for what I have learned and pray that I am blessed with many more opportunities to help shine a light in the lives of others
