I saw strange faces. Met different people from various races, belief, and background. We became familier strangers. 'Twice'on that same day, I was ridiculed by some older students. And just because I was a 'first-timer,' even the 'head teacher 'turned 'deaf and blind' 'twice' when I reported the incident to her.
Every hour that the school bell rang. Many thoughts ran through my mind.'What could be the next issue?'
'Could this mean our free period, break or closing time?' Another teacher entered our class, and we started preparing for another lesson. This was the tenth subject! All in one single day that I started school. At home my mama encouaged me:
"One week was all that you need and you'll be accustomed to such accademic routine."
Papa said:"Knowledge is Power!" The foundation to greatness starts at school."
I got admitted to acquire the basic principle of life.'Sound Education.'
'Man live to learn and learn to live.' Certainly from the moment that I entered school, my mentality never remained the same again. Yes, I recieved, new orientation, I got more inspiration and more motivation.
Although this was part of my heritage. I felt sad, lonely and was regularly missing home. But this first school, that I was starting was perfectly safe. After all, I had no choice.'How long will I remain there?' Papa answered. "As long as you are determined not to get an 'F' to repeat any class."
So I tried to keep my mind from becoming dumb. I tried to be always alert! Even though that I still assumed that every one I saw, knew my weakness and were secretly monitoring my movement.
Our assembly hall was crowdy but the enviroment remained friendly. I stopped shivering. I stopped displaying my usual frightened face, when it evidently became clear to my mind some days later, that the 'tough looking characters' even the 'tall girl' in the blue dress, I saw that same morning, roaming about the cemented corridor were all once like me.
