The word "service" to many people means "work". The name itself has a tendency to cause some to shy away.

According to the American Heritage Dictionary, the word service means: the occupation or duties of a servant; acts of devotion to God; witness; an act of assistance or benefit to another or others; favor.

Have you ever pulled into a "service" station and waited for an attendent to come and "service" your vehicle? The service attendent will fill up your gas tank, wash your windows and sometimes give you a smile. This is quite a blessing to the individual sitting behind the steering wheel.

Our service to God and to others is meant to be a blessing, not a curse. Service to God is our way of showing Him how much we love Him and want to do His will. Our service to man is our way of showing the world that we serve them out of love, not for material gain or self interest.

When we give our lives to the Lord and commit our ways to Him, everything changes. Transformation begins to take place on the inside of us as the Holy Spirit does the work. We no longer desire to be self-serving, but instead desire to serve the Lord in whatever way He chooses to use us.

There is absolutely nothing more satisfying in this life than serving Jesus and being a part of His kingdom. He blesses us so that we in turn can be a blessing to others. He pours into us so that we can pour into others. He gives to us so that we can give to others.

What we do for the Lord in this life will be rewarded when we stand before Him in heaven. We will never regret anything that we do for the Lord. Service to Jesus is rewarding not only in this life, but in the life to come.

When we choose to lay our lives down and commit our ways to Jesus, God is well pleased. When we empty ourselves of ourselves, the Lord will fill us up with Himself and cause our whole world to change. Our lives will be a channel for His blessings to flow through.

Are you willing to give your life to Jesus and become a blessing to the world? God is waiting for you today. Don't miss out on His wonderful gift of love.

A very good perspective on service!!

It is hard to imagine Jesus as a "waiter" holding a tray serving. But that is exactly what He did. A good perspective on our role.
