I slip away to the peace and quiet of the countryside. The beauty of the rising sun awakens me. Coffee has never tasted as refreshing as it does at such a moment. I hear the songs of birds as the drift along in the breeze, which caresses my very soul. The exhaust of rush-hour traffic is replaced with the scent of nature in its purest form.
“ Peace and Quiet” This is the phrase used by so many. I often wonder how many people really know the depth of this statement.
As I listen to the stream flowing over the rocks, I recognize the voice that speaks to my heart. The mist of morning dew massages my weary body as I paddle along the nearby lake. Fresh air fills my lungs, forcing the toxins out. Could this be heaven on earth?
One thing I am certain of, this is my heaven on earth. I thank God for keeping the workingman in mind when he created the world and its course of life, leaving these little pockets of peace and serenity to refresh our tired bodies and weary souls. I thank God for allowing me to hear his voice and feel his presence through the breeze, as it rustles the leaves of trees and lifts the birds into heavenly skies.
I can face tomorrow now as I take the memories home, and share the pictures within my mind with everyone who cares to see.
