KINGDOM TREASURE

Not every treasure God creates
is open to our view.
He dreams and fashions hidden things,
conceives and forges too

the crystal growing in a rock
the oyster pearl in sea
the lacy snowflake far from sight,
redemptive work in me.

With love God cleaved my stony heart
but found no jewel inside.
He washed with blood my sin and black
to snowy white as bride.

Breathed on my life with Spirit power
till heart once cold as ice
was tender, warm, a welcome place
for pearl of greatest price.

Violet, your poem reminds me of some of the great hymns of bygone years. Your use of words and rhythm is very soothing.
