Never in the lime light
in the back ground
you will find
never noticed by most
not self exalted
or self absorbed.
They are there
in the quiet of
the night and
the early morn,
on the watch
and vigil.
No praise of man
yet faithful
in their task
always watchful
behind the scene hero,
the one who prays.

Great reminder of what a hero really is, and sometimes what it costs. Thanks! You did a good job!

Amen! He also serves who stands and "prays"

This is a very solid submission. I appreciate that. It takes a lot for a poem to get my attention...it's trickier than it seems to craft a winner...most often I see a "swing-and-a-miss" poems... 'A' for effort, not so 'A' for result.
But this one is great. Thanks for posting it.
