We had received several phone calls over the past couple of days and my Grandmother had informed us that my Grandfather had made it out of surgery. He had so many surgeries in the past and they were all so painful. I am not quite sure how many times he had been brought back to life using CPR. His body was riddled with bad blood, malfunctioning kidneys, heart problems and lung problems. What made this time so different? After all the years of struggle this would be his last.
Every other time my Grandfather felt that he was close to death he would express his terror and fear of dying. This time was the LORD took control and gave him peace. My Grandfather died peacefully in a sleeplike state... he drifted away.
I thank God for his promises. He promised His Son and eternal life for those who believe in Him. He promised those of us who believe in Christ that we will be with our loved ones again one day.
I cried at my Grandfather's funeral only one time because all I could keep thinking about was that my Grandfather was looking in the face of Christ Jesus and praising our Father God in Heaven. God keeps His wonderful promises. And so even with the promise of death we have hope in our Lord Jesus.
