“What is a promise, Mommy?” asked little Hannah one bright day. “My dear, sit down and I will tell you about a special promise made to me and you.” Hannah’s mommy took her in her lap and began to tell her of a story so true. “A promise is something you say you’ll do, or not do as in the case of our story today. See long ago God made a promise to a man named Noah. The earth was filled with lots of wicked people, and God was very sad. He sent rain to wash away all the people who were bad. Noah and his family were safe on the ark, for they loved God with all their hearts. God said he’d never destroy the earth by flood again, and that’s just what he meant to do. Keeping your promises is very important and God is our example of that. He keeps every promise he makes, and we should too.” Hannah thought for a moment about what it all meant, and then said “So when you promise to love me always, that’s always what you’ll do?” “Yes, Hannah, it is true...I will always love you.”
