Topic: Whispers (01/26/04)

TITLE: Whispering Oaks
By Lucynda Gullia

Although we sit steadfast unable to move about, - what runs through us, from our very root - to the new life of every leaf, are the whispers of God’s heart. Do you know the whisper of the Oak trees? We declare the things we have seen and understood from the beginning. God’s Love. Yes, His Love for all man kind, truly…. no one can fully understand.

We have been here from the beginning. We were present at the fall of Adam and Eve. The whispers that where heard…. oh, I shall never forget as we saw their shame and their effort to hide in our midst from God as He walked in the cool of the garden that day. The whispers turned to silence, for we knew this event would change the future for all of us!

You must understand that the Oaks’ – the Kings of the Grove, are living vessels in which God has given to show His own gracious glory to you humans. We are an important part of His plan, just as you are! We have shared in seeing so much of what He has done through history.

He has used us as a picture of what His Kingdom is all about: bear fruit and multipling. He has given us as an example for you to see that His Son, Jesus is the vine, ( the trunk; the center) and you humans are the branches. Apart from Him - you are nothing!!!!

Our strength and our lives exalt Him, and that is what He wants from you! He has used us as a symbol of wisdom, strength, and endurance for you to see and understand His ways. In this, we glorify Him - standing tall, and strong.

He has allowed us to be apart of his glorious plan for all mankind. He used us as a place of rest in the birth of Jesus in a manger - to the partaking of His death on the cross.

We were cut down, made into a cross, to lift him up, so that -Jesus Christ could restore human kind into an everlasting relationship with Him once again as it was when we were all in the Garden.

How I remember the whispers that where dialoged between the thieves next to Jesus, and the whispers spoken in His last breaths on the cross. We heard the conversations of Jesus to the Father of all creation that day. We felt the pounding of each nail piercing His hands and feet, to the pounding of each heartbeat from life to death. The whispers spread to the willows as they wept with sadness of His pain and agony. We too shook with fear and sadness, as we felt the heaviness of the burden that was bestowed upon Him that day. In all our strength, we felt weak for the sins of all mankind were upon Him. We where to Him as Aaron and Hur who stayed beside Moses as his hands where heavy from being lifted up to prevail in victory for God’s chosen people until the going down of the sun. That day as the sun went down, even our roots below the earth, felt the thunder of the heavens above.

But three days later, we where there singing praises and watching the joy of victory, as Mary and Peter proclaimed to the others “He’s alive! He’s alive!” That day our branches danced as the birds jumped up and down upon them. Their sounds of joy ran through us. The sound of His spirit rustled out through our branches producing the whisper of His love.

We proclaimed His Victory over death and Satan that day!!! In our whispers we spread the truth of what This Victory meant. And this is what the Whispering Oaks declare through the susurration of our leaves to you in all creation: we declare the beauty of the Lord. We are here to sing the praises of His name. To show all people what it is He wants of His beloved bride the church. We are here to declare to all who will be still and lift up their eyes and tune their ears to the whisper: That in Him it is true - you are free. Oh yes…. you are free – free indeed. Free to be all that he created you to be.

Oh human creation, be still for a moment. Listen to the Whispering Oaks and understand the things we proclaim.

Hey Lucynda,
I really like this. That is such a great(effective) way you make the oak tree relay to the reader the pain and suffering Christ endured on the cross--the oak cut down. Really good.
