While looking through my widow on a breezy summer day
I watched my little daughter and her friends all out at play
Romance, romance, romance she cried, Where did she learn that word
How could a child of three know this, I found it quite absurd

I opened up my window now and poked my head outside
Her little friends all ranged in age from three right up to five
The tiny one in faded jeans, just did a little dance
And from her lips she squealed the words, romance, romance, romance

What kind of game was this I thought, from such a tiny group
I grabbed my cup of coffee and proceeded to the stoop
Maybe they won't notice me, I had to take a chance
I had to know just how they knew that word, romance, romance

The little guy with dirty knees of salmon colored clay
A smile so bright and toothless, was just about to say
His turn had come, he knew it too, and dusted off his pants
Jumped up and down and lisped with them, romance, romance, romance

I couldn't take it any more, I crept up to the herd
I blurted out so fast to them, “How do you know that word?”
My little one just froze in time, as if in circumstance
What do you mean, I said “You know...romance, romance, romance!”

She looked at me with guiltless eyes, and drew her tiny breath
and pointed to a moving hill, I laughed myself to death
There they were, their little minds, encouraging in chants
those little ants upon a hill, roam ants, roam ants, roam ants

1 Corinthians 13:11 (King James Version) When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

Reminds me of the old pink panther joke -- "dead ants, dead ants..." Very original and cute, cute, cute.
