Romance is a special word we use,
To describe how we court another.
Idealized for its beauty,
to show romantic love for each other.
Intriguing and mysterious.
As we look for ways to impress,
The heart of the one we truly love,
By the way we look and dress.
Nostalgic in our thought life,
It may sometimes be like a dream,
Of things we’ve seen on movies,
As sentimental words esteem.
We long for dreams of love fulfilled,
Through stories we have read.
But at times it may be a fantasy.
Of things we desire instead.
Special meals are often shared,
With flowers by candle light,
Creating just the right atmosphere,
To make the future bright.
True love is much more lasting,
Quieter with less passion to fill,
Maturity brings an awareness,
Of abiding peace and loving will.
It always seems quite touching,
To see the elderly, hand in hand,
Together they have passed the test
And found they understand.
Romance is something we long for,
In some of the relationships we share.
But time will show if our love is true,
By the way we live and care.
