I was deeply wounded,
Afraid to really trust,
The broken road Id traveled
Had left me feeling crushed.

My heart was hard yet fragile,
Id built a wall of stone.
Not risking hurt again,
I resolved to be alone.

We set out on our journeys.
Somehow our paths converged.
And in that very moment,
True love for us emerged.

It wasn't walks on beaches,
Moonlit walks in the sand.
It wasnt about the sunsets,
Or anything we'd planned.

Loves about the one with whom,
Sunsets and dreams you share.
Embracing life together as one,
We take on joys and cares.

Our hearts are bound together
We walk through our promised land.
We vowed itd be forever,
Together as one well stand.

Like an orchid, Mitzi--tender, sensitive, vulnerable. This is a lovely poem evocative of God's grace in healing, always providing the second chance.

Excellent poem. Most of us travel broken roads to romance. I relate and really enjoyed reading this.

Your poem is full of powerful imagery...that describes most of us, were we honest. The first stanza could not help but draw the reader in. I especially found

"My heart was hard yet fragile"

a provocative description of our woundedness. Thank you for such a lovely, lovely piece.

Wow, Mitzi! This is great! Personally, I'm still working on the resolving to be alone part. But if I'm not mistaken, I heard that it's those surprise encounters that you know had to come from heaven that are the sweetest, most blessed ones. Just Him and I for the moment is fine with me. Wait! What's that I see just up the road? :-O
