“Mommy, I’m hungry. Can I have a snack?” Ross is standing in the kitchen pantry looking for something to eat. It does not matter to him that lunch was only a few hours ago and the snack he had just a little while ago has long since been forgotten. He is a growing boy and growing boys are constantly hungry.
As a Christian, if I am to grow in my faith, I also need to be constantly hungry. Matthew 5:6 tells us that “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” I want my desire for the Word to be so great that as soon as I put it down, I long to pick it up again. I want my prayers to be a constant conversation with God. I want to continue to strive to be more and more Christlike. I do not ever want to become “full” of God, to be satisfied in my walk of faith.
Just like the growing boy, I pray that God will give me a never ending appetite for Him and for His Word. Let me never lose my hunger for the Savior.
