I find I am hungering
For the goodness of Your presence;
I’ve found it alluring,
As the sweetest incense.

Each morning, before I seek You,
My spirit’s so annoyed;
The whole of my being,
Feels its own void.
My heart, it so aches,
To have You near again;
After only moments,
You’re like a well-missed Friend.

Where could I go without You?
Like darkness without light;
My heart goes cold, before too long,
You’re what makes me right.

Yet, it is so good to know,
You make me so complete;
You’re only as so far,
As my next heartbeat.

In fact, You’re much closer,
Than I could be so near;
All my supplications
Are ever at You ear.

My heart, it so swells,
At the greatness of Your presence;
My joy seems to explode,
With each holy instance.
Soon will come the day,
My hunger will come to an end;
You’ll call own my pathetic life,
Your command my soul to send.

This is wonderful - I liked:

"my spirit's so annoyed..."

you describe exactly how I feel when I don't spend time with the Lord.

My college professor ruined me from enjoying poetry. So much so that I just didn't go to his class. I also didn't pass his class.
I really liked this one though. There may be hope for me yet!

Bob, you have peeked into my soul. I love this. Only a person who has an intimate relationship with the Living Lord can pen this. God bless. Barbie

Bob, this poem has it all. It flows so well and makes all the right connections. The message is powerful. Well done.

If only each heart could speak forth in truth "I find I am hungering
For the goodness of Your presence..."

Well done Bob. God bless you.

His presence in our houses are the greatest gifts we as Christians can feel. Your piece was heart rendering and I could so relate to it.

Truly, nothing could be compared to the eternal bliss we shall recieve when we see Him. It does not yet appear what we shall be, but when we see Him, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. How our hearts yearn and hunger for when this will happen!
Great poem!
Keep winning and shining for Jesus.

"Where could I go without you" indeed. We feel his presence everywhere. Great poem. Thanks for sharing.

Bob, I am wondering if you have thought of setting this to music? Very lovely expression of our need to stay connected to our Savior. He is definitely a light in the dark places.
