“How dare you?”
“How dare I what?”
“Talk about our president like that.”
“Like what?”
“Insulting him, calling him an idiot. He didn’t get to where he is by being an idiot.”
“Well, I think he is.”
“Do you think you could do a better job?”
“Uh— well— No, but I’m sure someone else could. And I don’t like the things he stands for either.”
“Like what?”
“Like telling a woman she shouldn’t be allowed to make decisions about her own body.”
“You mean like telling a woman it’s not okay to murder her unborn child?”
“It’s not really a child.”
“Then she’s not really pregnant.”
“Well— Uhhh— Okay, I don’t like that he let’s his faith play a part in his decision- making.”
“So, you’re saying, that if a person has a personal relationship with his creator, he should not be allowed to consult with him in prayer when making decisions?”
“Yeah.”
“So you’re saying that he shouldn’t have freedom of religion?”
“No, I’m saying he just shouldn’t let his faith get in the way of making decisions for our country.”
“If you have a true faith, it’s impossible to throw it out the window until you’ve made whatever decision is at hand. A person’s faith in God is a part of who they are. You can’t separate the two.”
“Sure you can. You just keep your religious views away from your political policies.”
“So, you’re saying he shouldn’t have freedom of religion?”
“No, I’m not.”
“Yes, you are.”
“Alright, let’s change the subject.”
“Do you think it’s wrong to kill animals for coats and medical research?”
“Yes, absolutely! It’s cruelty to animals.”
“But, you think it’s okay to kill babies?”
“No, I didn’t say that.”
“Yes, you did.”
“No, I didn’t.”
“Don’t insult me!”

And the subtitle could be don't tell me the truth I don't like it. Great entry!

What a fun piece, Wendy. Makes us all stop and pause, and take a relook at what we've said. Better yet, maybe it will cause us to re-check the works before they leave our mouth. This was fun....I enjoyed it.

Wendy--I love reading your articles, poems, etc. You have a talent and be encouraged not to allows life's stressors to burn out your flame for God.

Very good Wendy - and very timely at this point. I just received a call from an uncle in England, and he said they were all watching the elections with great anticipation and despite the media reporting that many Europeans were unhappy with Bush's re-election, he said just as many are happy he is back for another term.

Wendy,
Love your arguments...great dialog too! I wish I could come back with answers like that--mine always hit me after the fact!

Love the comeback "well, I guess she's not really pregnant then, huh?" I'll have to remember that one. You came up with some classic ignorant lines we've all heard from time to time. Great entry! Blessings, Lynda

I enjoyed this, maybe because I'm a firm believer in the so-called idiot president.God bless.

Interesting way of handling a serious problem.
