A cloud filled sky cannot keep hope from shining through.
A name quickly forgotten cannot deter dreams from being.
A door firmly closed cannot prevent God blessing you.”
J.K. Sandin
A life lacking the prosperity wished by most people in today’s society is one in which is blessed beyond such finite valuation. What are these immeasurable blessings accompanying impoverishment? Among them are the blessings of positioning, purpose, and providence.
Being poor is to be blessed with positioning. That is to say, to receive the riches of heaven in this life, and in the life to come. Riches in faith, and of a Kingdom’s inheritance (James 2:5). And what is purposed is the poor being conduits for the blessing of others: those who compassionately follow after Christ (Matthew 19:21).
There is also the blessing of providence associated with such meaningful poverty. For there are gifts “scattered abroad” in the enduring righteousness of God Himself (II Corinthians 9:9). More than this, the Lord’s own poverty has provided all who would be willingly emptied of self, God’s promised riches in glory by Christ Jesus. To be truly poor is to be in want of nothing.
