The greatest romance ever known
Ardent desire consummated, full-blown
Is a mere shadow of the holy love
That is ours in God above

The utmost depths of sacrifice
Our joy, our pain, our might, our strife
The greatest feats of mere mankind
Are in His light left far behind

The richest man on earth is poor
If all he has is earthly store
This world will never satisfy
The yearning of this fleeting life

Our momentary victories
Like spores of a dandelion blown by the breeze
May plant their seeds and bloom again
But the victor knows not how or when

This transitory world cannot defend
The eternal longings that dwell within
If we live our lives for Him we’ll find
The true riches and glory of eternal life

When the shadow is completely torn aside
And we lose our need to watch the time
Our treasure will not be the stuff of earth
But of our Savior’s greater worth

Wonderful poem, Debbie, with great depth and insight. "Our momentary victories
Like spores of a dandelion blown by the breeze
May plant their seeds and bloom again
But the victor knows not how or when" -- one of my favorite lines. I'm glad you came out of that closet; we need you to spread those dandelion spores and see what God does with them.

I like your poem! I appreciate the imagery you use here, Debbie, especially contrasting the shadowy, transitory things of this world with the reality of God's eternal Kingdom. It's one of my favorite themes to ponder--thanks for incorporating it!
