Topic: Laughter (10/18/04)

I have an 18 month baby boy. He is growing up so fast and trying to be independent. He smiles so hard like he is thinking, "mommy look at me." Just seeing his bright eyes, his smile and his actions cause "much laughter." And that is how I came up with this poem:

Much Laughter
By Monique Nicole Fox

My 18 month old brings
much laughter
Hearing him try to sing
Wiggling, trying to dance
Running whenever he gets a chance

My 18 month old manufactures
much laughter
Watching him trying to bathe in the tub
It so funny the smile on his faces
While he rubs, rubs, rubs

My 18 month old produces
much laughter
Seeing him try to feed himself
and drink some juice

My 18 month old delivers
much laughter
when trying to read a book
by himself on the sofa all alone
or tries to answer the telephone

God has made laughter for me
Through 18 month old boy baby
Who fills my life with joy and laughter
Since 2003 and forever after

----------------

Genesis 21:6 NAS: God has made laughter for me.

Monique 18 mos.such an incredible sweet age and they are an absolute joy to watch. I think that you could do a better job if you added more picture words to the poem or maybe try to duplicate the sound with your words. It would pull the reader into the mother heart.Great topic and actions.

Kids do the darndest things! I have a little brother about that age. He's a crack-up. Sweet poem, so true.

This is very sweet. Hope you're taking lots of photos to remember along with the poem. I'm sure he will cherish the poem in years to come. :^)

Delightful Monique - and you made it inside the word count (Yay!)

You just adore that darling boy of yours don't you! It shines out of every word you write.

Just a couple of things I picked up as typos in this - one was in the second stanza - the word "faces" should be "face". Then in the last stanza, "Through 18 month old boy" should probably be "Through an 18 month old boy." But minor things. This was delightful. Love, Deb

Oh, my dear...in the few seconds it took to read this I could almost see and smell the sweetness of my 18 month old baby boy. Of course, NOW he is 19 YEARS old. I'm sure you pushed the memory button of every parent here! Lovely.
