Get rid of your fears, wipe away your tears.
It’s too late for crying, innocent people are dying.
The bloody toll has begun.

You spent your days laughing.
And your nights quaffing
In merriment and fun.

You ignored the signs, the mad designs
To overtake the rest, in your quest
To be better than the best.

You went out feting and at times jet-setting,
Leaving the children to their own devices,
Guess what, they grew up with questionable vices

They always knew when you were lying
Making some excuse, finding a new ruse
Your duties to refuse.

You broke the law; you know they saw
The wrongs you did, you never hid
From their eyes, you were too wise.

So you laughed at the law-abiding
Spent your fun-time deriding
Those who walked in His path.

The children followed the path you took
You showed them well, the road to hell
If you had only read with them the Book –

The Bible - with His Word of peace and love
Showers of blessings from above
Would have come to you on the wings of a dove

Instead the jail has welcomed them inside,
The tears you shed, you cannot hide,
Yet you can even now turn the tide.

Ask forgiveness of our Lord
Listen to His sacred Word.
Then deliver the message that you heard.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John l:9) (RSV)
