THE ROCK OF AGES
The word mountain has being a significant thing in the scripture. Mountain in an original hebrew language is a means of
defence or protection. The book of psalms 125:2 says "As the mountain surrond Jerusalem so the Lord surrounds His people
from this time forth and foreever".
Mountain is one of the things God has put in place to prove his divine ability on his numerus subjects. A dictionary meaning
of mountains is a very high hill often with rocks near the top. Since creation, several events has happen to claim the importance
of mounain in the relationship between God and man.
God saved the children of Isreal from thirst, through the of rock. Exodus 17:1-6. here proves the Lord as the great provider.
In the same chapter, God fought against the Amalek vs 7 on the same rock.
The Mountain have also been a revelational word used by God. of course how? God called Moses on mount Horeb, the law
was given the Isrealite on mount Sinai, God first spoke to His people from the mountain. Exo 20:18 "And the people saw the
thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking, and when the people saw it, they
removed, and stood afar off.
Our Lord Jesus Christ called the apostle Peter rock. Matthew 16:18 "And I say also unto thee; that thou art Peter, and upon
this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
God also instruct his people to get wood for his house from the mountain. Haggai 1:8 "Go up to the mountain, and bring wood
and build the house, and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorifies, saith the Lord"
All these verse show how mountain has been an instrument in the hand of God for ages.
In conclusion, our Lord Jesus Christ was also names The Rock of Ages. I cor 10:4, "And did all drink the same spiriual water; for
they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them; and that Rock was Christ
