Black and thick,
The ash floats from me
Forged in the fire
Of the human condition
A degree in defiance
Graduating with honors
In the field of self-indulgence.
My life is swarming in the void
Of ineptitude.
I reach out to life
But am only consumed by death
There is nothing here for me.
Swirling down until
Death is embraced
As my soul sanctuary.
With a cold and shaking hand
I reach out in disbelief
To the fire that sears my heart.
I have been told
That God knows
What lies in the shriveled shrunken shell.
That only He can fill.
I have nothing left
But bleakness, blackness.
The fire of righteousness
Burns my fingers as I reach
But it is so unlike the fire
Of the earthly forges.
The heat, the burn
Itís not painful, but complete
Like a sword pounded,
Shaped, molded
A tool for the hand
Of the Mighty God.
I am being refined in the fire.
The ash floats away
Consumed in the vacuum of the cross.
In the tears of repentance
The Godly worth is tempered
To strengthen the once
Useless composite of insignificance
Polished by His sinlessness
In the loving hand
Of the Master Craftsman
Forged in His fire
Of refinement
My life is worth
Nothing less than
His.
His life becomes
My purpose.
My death squelched
With His life within me.
Fitted to His hand
To be used for His purpose.
The Graduation complete
From useless to useful
I am righted to my God
And prepared for His use.

Excellent Lovia. I especially liked: "Graduating with honors
In the field of self-indulgence."

Lovia, A great description of our metamorphosis. We truly are the clay in the Potter's Hands and we should be excited to see what He has planned for us. Love how you described this.

This was poetry with a definite annointing. One of the finest pieces of abstract poetry I've ever read.
