Bola was beside herself with joy as she gloried in the euphoric atmosphere. They were all lined up on a queue receiving their awards one after the other. It was her turn now as she walked towards the Master ushered by an angel who was brightly dressed in a white apparel. He grinned at her as she stood before her creator. What a great day! She thought. Her legs wobbled under her as she was presented the award. "Enter into my rest, my child. You have been found faithful", said the master. And then she was passed on by another angel to the right side of the Master. She walked in majestically. Bola couldn't tell the way she felt. It was too great to savour. She felt as though her heart would burst out. She was filled with joy.
The gate was all gold tinted with silver shades, and the floor was paved in gold as well. Bola's face beamed as she walked through and the brightness all around glowed over her face. She was about to take the next step when she heard her name...
"Bola! Bola! Wake up, it's morning. Today's your graduation and you're still on bed." It was her younger sister, Tomi who immediately walked out of the bedroom after waking her sister. Tomi had been preparing so much for her sister's graduation as if it were her who would graduate. Bola sat up in her bed, rubbed her face with the back of her right hand, yawned, and stretched herself almost to a break. She was disappointed. It had all been a dream. She dimmed her eyes as she looked through her window. The sun was already rising. She picked up her clock. It was 6.30am. "Graduation, graduation, graduation..." she murmured to herself. She managed to crawl to the edge of her bed and sat down again. She began to reminisce all the days she had spent in the university. It now looks like yesterday when she just started.
Bola had been the hardworking type that could never trade her studies for anything not even a relationship. She was devoted to her studies and her studies alone. Serious enough to always wake in the middle of the night and walk to the classrooms. And before dusk, she would be back in her hostel ready for the day's lectures. She was the nocturnal type educationally. She smiled at herself as she remembered those days. Whew! It is now 'those days'. She knows, she was told she is graduating with a first class in Economics. Her heart was filled with joy. She truly deserved it. She had worked hard for it. She sprang up and began to prepare.
