THE ACCEPTANCE THAT MATTERS
By
Dr.M.Anthony David Swaroop Kumar

The sun was setting. The preacher came close to me and said,” You have to confess that you have sinned, accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour. Then He will come into your heart and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. And you will be saved!” As the rays of the dying sun touched me gently on the hill far away from my city, I understood the gospel. I knelt down and prayed a simple prayer of acceptance. I accepted the Lord as my personal Saviour. As I did that, I felt a strange sense of joy. I am accepted as a child of God! I exulted!

I stood on tiptoe to scan the typed sheet stuck up on the notice board. I craned my neck to see, in that dim twilight. Was my name there? Yippee! It was there! I was accepted to enter into the prestigious graduate school of medicine, the Christian Medical College, Vellore! My joy was unbounded! It was a childhood dream come true! I was accepted!

Some years later. I waited anxiously as my future father in law made his confidential enquiries about my character before accepting me. My would-be fiancée and me were literally on tenterhooks. After a long wait, finally he gave his verdict. I was accepted! Both of us were overjoyed!

Finally, the post arrived with the Christian magazine I was waiting for! My hands shook with anxiety as I tore open the cover to take the magazine out! I fumbled with the pages till I found my article in it. The first article of mine I saw printed in black and white! I was overjoyed! My article was accepted!

I stand before the throne of God and wait my turn. All the dead, great and small stand along with me. The books are opened and the Book of life of the Lamb is opened. Will I be accepted? Will my name appear in that Book? (Rev.20: 12) I will praise God as my name is found written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. I am accepted!

You need to be accepted by your college or university to settle in a career. You need to be accepted by your fiancée and their family to be successfully married. Editors and publishers should accept all that you write. This gives meaning to your writing. But what is the most important acceptance? The acceptance that matters most depends on you. If you accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, then He will accept you and write your name in His Book of Life!

May the Lord of Life accept all of us dear readers so that our names appear in the Book of Life. This is the only acceptance, which matters.

'...I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord...' Phil. 3:8 This is good!

I liked the listing of things we tend to think are the most important acceptance factors and forget the best one.

Very well done, I enjoyed the divisions for different parts of life. Good message.
