"Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season" 2 Timothy 4:2
So much failure. So much regret. We are lost before the battle even begins because we do not place proper importance on preparation. Jesus knew the value of preparation, as did Paul. But living in a fast food society produces a mentality, especially in the church, for microwavable Christianity. The battle is not decided on the battlefield. Its conclusion is determined in its preparation.
Never forget that we are in the midst of spiritual warfare. To venture out into this chaos without a proper foundation of discipleship is akin to equipping a toddler with a gun to fight a war. It is simply a recipe for failure for a new believer to go out into the war without a proper grounding in Christian basics and key apologetic doctrine. If we journey out into the world without knowing what or why we believe, we are just seeds sown on shallow soil, doomed to be uprooted. It takes years to grow a mighty oak tree and only a few months to grow a tomato.
Never let your guard down. Never compromise your position. For in that moment of weakness, the enemy will attack. The enemy is no green recruit. He knows your weaknesses and will capitalize on them. Remember, this is not a battle over territory or for freedom. This is a battle for the souls of men. Our preparation will mean the difference between an eternity in heaven and an eternity in hell.
* A disciple prepares for spiritual warfare in any season.
Application - Am I prepared now, in this season? Have I taken preparation lightly?
