The Prom is memorable,
A sort of “don’t miss time.”
The youth in our schools
Consider it sublime.
It happens each spring,
Special dates in place.
But readying for the event
Becomes spendy race.
The girls search for dresses,
Gorgeous hairdos and face.
While the boys rent tuxedos
And limos to the place.
Well groomed, and mannerly,
Looking well beyond years,
They assume a new confidence
Abandoning all fears.
As ladies and gentlemen
Out “on the town.”
They arrive at this dance,
Now transformed to renown.
Decorations, refreshments,
Awesome music and friends
Make this anticipated evening
Desirous of no ends
This date of all dates
Includes dinner and more
As their own creativity
Keeps secrets in store.
Reminiscing my own proms
Several years back,
Reminds that experiences
Enhance memories - no lack.
Perhaps proms for seniors
Would inspire more romance,
As they whirl around the prom floor
Avoiding their last dance!
