What is pressure, but a force applied with intent to mold or fashion into a desired likeness? Well, you ask, what is peer pressure? And, how do we define our peer groups? Do we align ourselves in crowds of predetermined clusters, such as, age, social standing, race, religious affiliation?
Everyone, without exception, is pressured by various means, over varying spans of time, and with varying degrees of result.
I say, then, that it is being molded or fashioned into a likeness all right. Question is though, is it a desired likeness?
God’s Word says that He sent His son Jesus into this world and made Him a little lower than the angels, fully God, yet fully man. This, if you assume the humanness, makes Him, by definition, a peer.
Our purpose is then, to decide, first, the desired outcome we aspire to, for our children and ourselves. Then, call upon the Holy Spirit to align us with the appropriate peer. And, simply allow the pressure to assert itself upon our lives.
