Peer Pressure, to impress,
Burdened by the mental stress,
To stand equal with another,
Overcome, I begin to smother.

Adam and his wife Eve,
Under peer pressure I believe,
Fell into the trap,
Which caused the first human mishap.

Peer pressure take's many forms,
Positive, negative and misinformed,
You don't need your peer's to condone,
One can make decisions on their own,

When other people get involved,
There's no promise of problems solved,
Pressuring you one way or another,
It won't work this way, try the other.

Satan was sly, in the garden that day,
Knowing the outcome, he did betray,
Eve was trusting, a bit naive,
Not seeing Satan's motive, to deceive.

Their son Cain fell into the trap,
His peer was Abel to defeat,
Trying to out do Abel,
He thought he would cheat,
He didn't count the cost,
His gift God did reject,
Abel's gift was perfect,
Cain felt let down,
He began to frown,
Why was Abel so renown,

Cain began to ponder,
Getting Abel was his goal,
He started to maunder,
Abel he did cajole.

Not knowing the hate, Cain had for him,
Abel could not foresee,
Cain meant to do him in,
Cain killed Abel,
Murdered, in the first degree.

Cain made the wrong choice,
Then he heard God's voice,
Asking where is your brother, Abel?
Why are you asking me?
Am I my brother's keeper?
Don't you See?
I'm just a simple reaper.

God knew what Cain had done,
God held him accountable,
The lesson has been spun,
Never to be stable,
Cain received a mark,
For killing Abel.

This story could go on and on,
I'll stop hereupon,
Never let peer pressure get to you,
Always look at God's view,
Remember to do the right,
And shun the wrong,
Walking with God keeps us strong,
Always remember,
That's were we belong.

The Pressure Is On
By Monique Nicole Fox, poetmnf@authorsden.com

The pressure is on but
Not by my peers.

The pressure is on by God the Almighty.
His wrath, rod and staff is what I fear.

The pressure is on each and every day.
His commandments and words I do obey
And are kept mentally near.

The pressure is on to live a good and righteous life;
One that is spiritual and always sincere.

Thank you God for your pressures.
It is You I revere.

Isn't coincidental that we chose the same title.
I didn't know that there was another poem by the same title.
Do I need to change this?
I enjoyed your poem, thank you for sharing it.
Yeshua bless all your endeavorers

Your poem is great. I too enjoy reading poems which tell a story.
I often try to write my poems this way too, to tell a story or give a message. God bless you in your writing from Marcell
