Hello, my name is Cathy, and I am a nerd.

I didn’t always recognize my nerdiness. Once upon a time, I believed that somehow the passage of summer had magically transformed me into a charismatic, beautiful, stylish teen idol! All people everywhere (or at least all of my high school classmates) would love and adore me!

Weeks before high school started, I began planning and preparing for the first day of school. The outfit, hair and make-up had to be perfect --stylish, but not contrived. I practiced the answer to the regular what-did-you-do-over-the-summer question. Alas, my popularity never did soar to dizzying heights, but I was prepared.

Imagine what would happen if I started preparing for that first day in heaven like I once did for my first day of school! What if all Christians did?

Letting the Holy Spirit have control of all of my life would be a wonderful way to prepare for heaven. My fervent hope is that the fruits of the Holy Spirit are evident in my life. Galatians 5:22-23 says, “When the Holy Spirit controls our lives he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control; and here there is no conflict with Jewish laws.” Boy, do I have a lot of work to do!

My diligent preparations for high school and my teenage aspirations for popularity failed miserably. I was and am a nerd. Guess what? No matter how poorly I prepare for heaven, I know that on that first day in Heaven, when I, once an earth-bound nerd, sit at my Father’s feet, I will be loved and adored!

Cathy, the beautiful thing is we are not only going to be loved and cherished in heaven, but we are loved and cherished right now by our dear Lord. Great analogy - really liked reading your entry.
