FISH ARE UNAWARE

"Come follow me and I will make you fishers of men." - Jesus

Fish are unaware
that they're      <*)))))    <*)))))><}
a catch,
preoccupied     <*)))))><}    {><)))))*>       <*)))))><}
with seeking food.

Wily angler uses       {><)))))*>      <*)))))><}
every angle
casts a wide net     <*)))))><}
sets irresistible trap             <*)))))><}
obsesses on fish-study                                                       {><)))))*>
where they eat,  {><)))))*>    <*)))))><}       <*)))))><}
and what and when.

Not above pursuing them     {><)))))*>    {><)))))*>
waist-deep in water
or sitting cramped for hours       {><)))))*>
in a boat
he goes where fish                   <*)))))><}
are known to be                                               {><)))))*>
then casts and casts again...

and should a school of hungry fish   <*)))))><}   <*)))))><}    <*)))))><}
swim by, what overjoyed confusion   <*)))))><}  <*)))))><}     <*)))))><}  <*)))))><}
reeling in, resetting bait   <*)))))><}    <*)))))><}  <*)))))><}  <*)))))><}
and casting out once more   <*)))))><}  <*)))))><}     <*)))))><}  <*)))))><}
before that multitude moves on   <*)))))><}  <*)))))><}  <*)))))><}    <*)))))><}
and itís too late.       <*)))))><}   <*)))))><}   <*)))))><}    <*)))))><}  <*)))))><}

I used HTML commands to format this. It looks fine in the preview window. I hope it displays the same when put online. If not, it will be a mess, and I apologize for that. Violet

Welcome Violet - haven't seen you in a while.

The fish look great!! What a clever idea.

Loved the concept of the poem too. We can learn a lot from you when it comes to clarity of thought, and cadence of words.

Violet! What a treat to see you in the Challenge and what a cute little entry this is (you are SO clever!)

The second stanza in particular was a good reminder about our need to be "wily anglers". Very good! With love, Deb

Man, if that second stanza didn't describe my husband to a T, I don't know what would.

Very nice poem, and I loved the addition of the fish. It's good to see an entry from you on the Challenge. I've missed your contributions!

With love,
Mary

Very nice. Love the fish! Your poem is quite good - clever and fun. I really enjoyed it.

I loved the "art" that you put with your poem, which, by the way, was great!

I know you were tying to be cute, and clever, but with the fishes, it made it hard to read.
Plus it was still under 150 even with the fishes.

I think the fish are brilliant! Where did you come up with the idea? The poem although short is very well written.
L.M. Lee06/17/04
absolutely brillant way to be creative with this topic!

Would you believe that this very day (well, actually, yesterday now) from out of nowhere I thought, "Wonder where Violet on FW is?" I have no idea what that means.

And HERE you are, as clever as ever! Very creative. Glad you're back. :0)
