One amazing thing about God is that He allows “do overs”. No matter how many times we mess up He allows us to start over. Each new beginning is not tainted in His site by our past failures. Acknowledging our failure enables us to start fresh.
Unfortunately, it is our own guilt and remembrance of failures that often causes the next new beginning to fail or seem bleak. God does not remind us of our failure, we do that on our own. He doesn’t keep score, we often do. What would happen if we allowed those around us new beginnings? Jesus said to forgive and forgive again, 70 times 7. So often we expect God to let us start over, yet we don’t allow for failures in those around us. This doesn’t mean that there is no consequences from failure, but there is love, understanding, and restoration. What an amazing world we would have if we all started to give a few do overs.
We are told to follow Christ example, but somehow we pick and choose what we will follow. Would we accept this from our children? What would we do if they began to only obey things that suited them? Thankfully, God is truly loving and forgiving, even more so than us. So the next time you spot failure in others remember to give them a new beginning, just as Christ gave you.
