This year I will lose weight. This year I will be more organized and attend church more often. The list can go on and on and what I have determine is that resolutions are a waste of time.
Time and time we promise this and we promise that only to find out that we have failed.
Now, resolutions should be replace with Repentance. Repenting of lying, procrasination, rudeness, sexual sin, and piousness. We must understand that what we do grieves and hurts the almighty God.
Resolutions focuses on what man will do. Repentance focuses on the capability of God with man. In the christian's life because we know that we have sinned and we can get back up. Resolutions don't affect us like that, we just see it as a promise to myself. If I break a promise to myself who is it hurting? Repentance affects us and God.
Repentance can only be displayed when we confess honesty and serious how we have rebelled against God. With Repentance God is most capable of helping you overcome that struggle or sin. Resolutions comes from man's willpower. Whose more powerful man's will power or God's power? Resolutions or Repentance. You chose.
